Jazz singer Nina Simone said, "Bach made me dedicate my life to music." Pop musician Andrew Bird commented: "There is something comforting about going into a practice room, putting your sheet music on a stand and playing Bach over and over again." Jazz bassist Charles Mingus put it this way, "What's hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity." Robert Spano leads the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Chorus in an evening dedicated to one of history's most wondrous composers, which also features the world premiere of ASO composer Michael Kurth's newest work, Miserere.
