Opera superstar David Daniels heads a brilliant cast of singers, all making their Atlanta Symphony Orchestra debuts in this complete opera in performance.

Choreographer Lauri Stallings is collaborating closely with director James Alexander and scenographer Daniel Arsham to bring to life the rich dance element of Gluck’s Orfeo, utilizing the moving artists of glo. There are several ‘ballets,’ as Gluck called them, throughout the opera. As such, Gluck intended the movement element to be integral to the telling of the story. The movement will be characterizing of the ceremonial mourners at Euridice’s funeral, the Furies who try to bar Orfeo’s way into Hades, the blessed heroes who reside in Elysium as well as the joyous dancers who help celebrate the happy conclusion to the story.
