Liza Grossman

Biography

Liza Grossman is the tour conductor for Styx and the founding Music Director of the award-winning Contemporary Youth Orchestra (Cleveland).

A major supporter of new music and working with living composers, she has commissioned and conducted over 500 orchestral world premieres, 21 concerti with Cleveland Orchestra members, works by Pulitzer Prize recipients and emerging composers.

She has worked with artists Tommy Shaw, Melissa Etheridge, Ben Folds, Graham Nash, Jon Anderson, Kenny Loggins, and Jason Mraz, among many nationally recognized musicians.

She has conducted orchestras including the Colorado Symphony, Nashville Symphony, and the Jacksonville Symphony, in diverse venues including Severance Hall, Blossom Music Center, Schermerhorn Hall, and Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Liza Grossman has received three ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming, the Northern Ohio Live Award of Achievement, Young Audiences Sunshine Award for excellence in education, and The Cleveland Arts Prize.
