David Braitberg


David Braitberg has been a violinist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) since 1977 and has recorded extensively with the Orchestra.

Braitberg is the only violinist in the ASO that has occupied every chair in both first and second violins, including roles as concertmaster and soloist. He has also held positions as Concertmaster of the Muny Opera in St. Louis, Concertmaster of the Opera Theater of St. Louis and also as a member of the Memphis Symphony. Braitberg was a founding member of the Atlanta Quartet and the Atlanta Winds, and he is actively involved with other chamber music associations around the state. He has been an active recording musician with the ASO, performing on many commercial recordings from Isaac Hayes to R.E.M.

Braitberg was born in Zbarasz, U.S.S.R. and began playing violin at age four. He was raised in St. Louis Missouri, where he attended Washington University and Webster University. Notable teachers with which Braitberg studied include Chaim Braitberg, Concertmaster of the Stalingrad Symphony, and Mel Ritter, Concertmaster of the St. Louis Symphony.

When he is not performing on the big stage, Braitberg enjoys hobbies of restoring antique cars and fishing.
