After playing a one year position in the ASO, Laura Najarian won the audition in 2006 to become the orchestra's permanent second bassoonist, holding the endowed Pricewaterhouse-Coopers Chair. Prior to her appointment with the ASO, Laura was principal bassoon of the Savannah Symphony for 15 years and spent her summers as principal bassoon of the Des Moines Metro Opera. She has also performed with orchestras in Jacksonville (FL), Charlotte, Charleston, Omaha, The North Carolina and Utah Symphonies as well as the Houston Grand Opera. Summers during college were spent at Tanglewood and the Aspen Music Festival and more recently at the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival.
After earning a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and studying with Otto Eifert, Ms. Najarian went on to study with K. David Van Hoesen at the Eastman School of Music, earning a Master of Music in Performance and Literature degree and a Performer's Certificate while serving as a graduate teaching assistant.
Laura lives in Atlanta with her husband John Warren, a clarinetist, and their children Phoebe and Leo.
