Associate Principal Horn
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Associate Principal Hornist, Susan Welty joined the orchestra in 1988. A native of Illinois, she graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in music performance. While studying there, she was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Her teachers include Dale Clevenger, Norman Schweikert, and Richard Oldberg, all of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Welty has been a featured guest artist at the International Horn Workshop and has performed at the Amelia Island (Florida) and Bellingham (Washington) Music Festivals. In addition to her duties with the ASO, she frequently appears as a soloist with local orchestras, as well as performing with chamber ensembles in the Atlanta area.
