Premiere of Excerpts from Wynton Marsalis’s Blues Symphony Photo Gallery - 11/19/09

Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra premiered selected movements from composer-performer Wynton Marsalis’s new symphonic work, Blues Symphony on November 19, 2009. The performance also included Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with guest pianist Olli Mustonen, Bernstein’s Prelude, Fugue and Riffs featuring the ASO Principal Clarinet Laura Ardan, and Gershwin’s An American in Paris.

On November 18th, Mr. Marsalis spoke to music enthusiasts at Conversations of Note about his new work, the process of composition, and provided a mini-master class for jazz students from Atlanta Public Schools, who also performed with Mr. Marsalis.
