Creation/Creator World Premiere

Apr. 23/25 - Live recording

Interweaving texts and ideas from philosophy, science, religion, and literature, Creation/Creator will give, as composer Christopher Theofanidis describes, a “profoundly deeper understanding of the relationship between these two subjects and to remove a limiting sense of a passive relationship between ‘God’ and humanity.”

An American in Paris

Apr. 30/May 2

Robert Spano leads the Orchestra in a signature ASO work, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. Jean-Yves Thibaudet returns to play a virtuosic “divertissement”, Ravel’s Piano Concerto. Also, an American classic - Gershwin’s impression of the City of Light - and a future classic, the world premiere of Atlanta School of Composers member Michael Gandolfi’s Sinfonia Concertante.

Leila Josefowicz & John Adams

May 7/9

Composer and conductor John Adams and violinist Leila Josefowicz bring their latest collaboration with Scheherazade.2, Symphony for Violin and Orchestra. The piece was written specifically for Ms. Josefowicz, a champion of modern composers. Also enjoy Respighi’s mighty symphonic poem depicting scenes among the pines of the Eternal City.
