Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra

Established in 1974, the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra provides Atlanta’s most talented and dedicated students an outlet to perform masterworks. Each year, more than three hundred instrumentalists ages 13-18 audition for one of 120 seats in the orchestra.

The Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra presents a three concert series each year, and members have exclusive invitations to participate in readings and master classes with the top artists in the instrumental music industry.

I am incredibly proud of the hard work by so many people who made yesterday’s opening concert by the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra such a success. Jere pulled the students together for their first concert and delivered a strong and inspiring program. I’m still mesmerized by the palpable sense of tension and nuance created by guest artist Jennifer Stumm and the orchestra as they crafted La Llorona: Tone Poem for Viola and Orchestra. And, the rousing conclusion of Stravinsky’s firebird was tackled with a great vitality and a promising sense of precision in the strings that has me VERY much anticipating the remaining two concerts. The hall was packed with well over 1,000 people and thanks to incredible collaborations by Marketing/Group Sales/Education-Community, our revenue for the one concert exceeded the entire revenue total for last season’s ASYO concerts. I am very enthused about starting the year with such great success. Thank you to everyone for supporting this exciting work.
