Falla's hot-blooded ballet sizzles with Andalusian melodies. El amor brujo is a feverish tale about a specter consumed with lust and cruelty. Each night, he forces a beautiful Gypsy girl – his widow – to dance with him. Can her Latin lover break the spell? Jun Märkl leads the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with the fiery Colombian-born soprano Catalina Cuervo. And pianist Bertrand Chamayou brings us Richard Strauss' delightful “Burleske”. The program closes with Beethoven's classic Symphony No. 4.
