It is difficult to say whether Atlantans are more in love with violinist Hilary Hahn or the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, but having the two of them together is pure luxury. A mountain of a piece for the solo violinist, the Tchaikovsky combines sweetness with bravado and soaring melodies. "Without a doubt, she is the most complete, perfect, and intelligent interpreter of her instrument so far in the 21st century" (El Mundo). Guest conductor Cristian Măcelaru also leads the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a thrill ride by the 19-year-old Dmitri Shostakovich: the First Symphony.
