Due to illness, Peter Serkin had to withdraw from his performances this week. We are delighted to welcome Jorge Federico Osorio to play these performances of Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1.

The Frankenstein Symphony features music from American composer Mark Grey's full-length opera, based upon the novel by Mary Shelley which is celebrating its 200 year anniversary.

Brahms' First Piano Concerto is based off of his first attempt at a symphony, at the behest of his mentor Robert Schumann. A prolific recording artist, Jorge Federico Osorio has documented a wide variety of repertoire, including a solo Brahms CD that Gramophone proclaimed "one of the most distinguished discs of Brahms' piano music in recent years."

Free Pre-Concert Lecture on Thursday, February 25, 7pm
Orchestra Insider and Program Annotator Ken Meltzer will present a pre-concert lecture at 7pm on the Symphony Hall stage. His guest will be composer Mark Grey who will be discussing the world premiere of his Frankenstein Symphony. Open to all weekend ticket holders.
