The Atlanta Symphony’s Continuing Education programs are designed to give audiences new context for the music they enjoy. Observing master classes and lectures, attendees see how classical music fits into our larger culture.

CONVERSATIONS OF NOTE

For the inquisitive of all ages, Conversations of Note explore how art, history, and society intertwine.  These intimate dialogues feature ASO artists and provide participants with a unique view into the world of music.

The 2008-2009 theme is American Originals: Art is the Ultimate Democracy. Moderated by ASO Insider and Program Annotator Ken Meltzer, the four remaining Conversations will cover the music of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — in conjunction with the Orchestra’s annual MLK Celebration; Robert Spano’s lauded Atlanta School of Composers; and  Música Ardiente, a journey along the fabled Inca Trail.

Admission is complimentary and RSVPs are strongly encouraged.

The Music of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This Conversation will focus on music inspired by Dr. King, including Nicolas Flagello’s The Passion of Martin Luther King which will be performed at the ASO’s annual King Celebration Concert on January 15, 2008. at Morehouse College. Join us for an exciting and rousing evening!
