Hailed by critics for his understated elegance, wit and joyfulness, pianist Pedja Muzijevic has defined his career with creative programming, unusual combinations of new and old music, and lasting collaborations with other artists and ensembles.  Pierre Ruhe summed it up in Atlanta Journal-Constitution review of a concert with Atlanta Symphony, saying “Muzijevic is a thinking musician, eager to go his own way.”

Mr. Muzijevic symphonic engagements include performances with the Atlanta Symphony, Dresden Philharmonic, Milwaukee Symphony, Orquesta Sinfonica in Montevideo, Residentie Orkest in The Hague, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Shinsei Nihon Orchestra in Tokyo, and the Zagreb Philharmonic,. He has played solo recitals at Alice Tully Hall in New York, Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival in Kalamazoo, MI, Casals Hall and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, Da Camera of Houston, The Frick Collection in New York, National Gallery in Washington, DC, Lincoln Center’s What Makes It Great Series in New York, for Arizona Friends of Chamber Music in Tucson, Lane Series at University of Vermont, the Aldeburgh Festival in Great Britain, and many others. His Carnegie Hall concerto debut playing Mozart Concerto K. 503 with Oberlin Symphony and Robert Spano was recorded live and has been released on the Oberlin Music label.

Highlights of 2016/17 season include his return to Atlanta Symphony and Robert Spano with Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 482, his debut with the New Jersey Symphony and their new music director,  Xian Zhang, performing Beethoven Triple Concerto’s with violinist Eric Wyrick and cellist Jonathan Spitz; solo recital at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, DC, recital and master class at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and chamber music concerts with St. Lawrence and Aeolus string quartets. He returns to the Banff Centre in Canada to direct Concert in 21st Century residency for musicians, that explores possibilities of concert formats and what we can do to position classical music better in today’s society.

During the 2015/16 season Mr. Muzijevic’s engagements included solo recital for Washington Performing Arts at Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater in Washington, DC, performances of Schumann and Kurtag concertos with Santa Rosa Symphony and Bruno Ferrandis and Bach Concerto with Orlando Philharmonic conducted by Eric Jacobsen, returns to Stanford Live, Spoleto Festival USA, Toronto Summer Music, Banff Centre and 92nd Street Y in New York, as well his debut at Salle Bourgie in Montreal.

Muzijevic made his Atlanta Symphony debut in the summer of 2009, playing Mozart Piano Concerto K. 466 with Grant Llewellyn and was immediately re-engaged for his subscription debut in 2010, playing Mozart Piano Concerto K. 453 with Gilbert Varga. He made his St. Paul Chamber Orchestra debut in 2009 playing Berg Chamber Concerto with violinist Steven Copes and conductor Douglas Boyd. Mr. Muzijevic also returned to Lane Series at University of Vermont in Burlington, VT with a solo recital, performed a song recital with baritone Simon Keenlyside for Lincoln Center’s Great Performers series at Alice Tully Hall in New York and returned to Spoleto USA Festival in Charleston, SC.

His many festival engagements encompass, among others, performances at Tanglewood, Spoleto USA, Ravinia, Mostly Mozart, Newport, OK Mozart, Bridgehampton, Bay Chamber Concerts, San Miguel de Allende, Aldeburgh, Lucerne, Holland, Melbourne, Aix-en-Provence, Dubrovnik, Merano and Bratislava Festivals. He has toured with Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Dance Project throughout the United States, South America, Europe and Asia and with Simon Keenlyside in Trisha Brown’s staged version of Schubert’s Winterreise at Lincoln Center in New York, Barbican in London, La Monnaie in Brussels, Opera National de Paris, as well as in Amsterdam, Lucerne and Melbourne.

Mr. Muzijevic’s solo recording entitled Sonatas and Other Interludes is available on Albany Records. It juxtaposes music for prepared piano by John Cage with composers ranging from W. F. Bach and D. Scarlatti to F. Liszt and R. Schumann. His discography also includes, besides his Carnegie Hall concerto debut,  two CD”s on fortepianos – a Schumann Salon and Mozart and Beethoven Quintets for piano and woodwinds.
