Michael Kurth

Michael Kurth has been playing bass with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra since 1994. He began playing bass at age 8. Mr. Kurth studied with Harold Robinson at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and received his bachelor's degree with honors in 1993. Before joining the Atlanta Symphony, he was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach.

Mr. Kurth spends much of his free time composing. His piece May Cause Dizziness was premiered by the Atlanta Symphony in March 2011. He currently serves as composer-in-residence for Riverside Chamber Players of Roswell. Mr. Kurth’s music can be heard online on Facebook at "Michael Kurth, Composer."

Mr. Kurth also enjoys reading, visiting art museums, listening to Tom Waits, and visiting the homes of famous Southern writers.
